best leggings for big butts
based on the response from my blog post about sports bras for big boobs, i thought this blog post was the perfect companion.
like the sports bra search, i’ve also had a lot of trouble finding leggings that are:
not see through
stay put at my waist during all different workouts
look flattering
don’t cut off my circulation / give me rolls / feel like they’re going to split when i move / actually split when i move
are comfy to wear for long periods of time
sweat-wicking / nonstinky
affordable
that’s why i usually stick to a brand / style of leggings once i’ve found one that i like.
i also prefer trying leggings on in store, so there are some online only leggings (i.e. gymshark) that i haven’t tried because i am lazy af about returns.
there are different leggings that work better for different workouts (based off of material, length, ability to move with me) — keep reading for the full breakdown!
Running
I’ve worn these leggings during every race I’ve run and for almost all of my long runs since 2017.
They’ve still held up — they feel like you’re not wearing anything, but have pockets, dry quickly, and stay up.
HIIT / Boxing
These leggings are SO GOOD. So good for literally everything.
They stay LIKE NO OTHER, are decidedly non-see-through, and most of all, are so flattering.
These are thick enough to hide imperfections and to not be see-through, but are still super comfy.
They stay in place during lots of jumping and moving, which is a win. I like this length because it hits right at my ankle (because I have short legs).
Strength Training / Lifting
These are great for weight-lifting / strength-work — mid-to-(kinda)-high-waisted, quick-drying, and sweat-wicking.
Yoga / Pilates / Barre
The ultimate comfy yoga pant.
I own multiple pairs in different colors — they’re long, stretchy, don’t cut you in weird places at the waist, super soft, and really high-waisted (and don’t roll down).
They’re not that stretchy in the thighs as you’d expect, so I had to size up (XS -> S), but the waistband stays put.
These are thin yet stretchy and very high-waisted.
They’re so comfy that I (and multiple other yoga teachers) have multiple pairs in varying colors.
One of the reasons I love this brand (and style) of leggings is that it’s thick, but also breathable.
Your sweat dries quickly and everything stays in place, making it perfect for yoga.
These are wonderfully thick while still being breathable, so they’re perfect for outdoor yoga.
Bonus: Joggers
I’ve worn these to spar, but these are actually my favorite traveling / lounging pants.
They’re so comfy, the the perfect length, and super flattering as well. Brb while I buy a pair in every color.
Question: Bike Shorts???
I was SO against the bike short trend for a very very long time, but now that I’ve decided I want to get a good pair, I can’t find one.
I tried the Lululemon Fast and Free Shorts and the Lululemon Align Shorts (both below), and both ride up so far that they are NOT bike short material.
Honestly, something cozy I can relax in and something I can work out in would be ideal. Taking any and all suggestions now <3
